# Doc Bench

> Local-first document and PDF studio that runs in the browser without uploading user files.

Doc Bench runs at https://docbench.travny.workers.dev/. It is part of the TRAVNY Bench family and is designed for document inspection, editing and PDF maintenance while keeping source files on the device.

## Documents

- Edit TXT, Markdown, JSON, YAML/YML and XML.
- Preserve and deliberately change UTF-8 BOM and LF/CRLF/CR line endings.
- Validate and format structured documents.
- Render Markdown safely and inspect JSON/YAML/XML in structured tree previews.
- Save directly back to a selected local file in supported browsers, with download as the portable fallback.

## PDF tools

- Preview PDFs locally.
- Merge files and reorder or delete pages.
- Inspect, add, edit, move and remove bookmark trees.
- Preserve and remap bookmark targets when pages change.
- Apply lossless optimization, optional lossy image recompression and Fast Web View.
- Rebuild and verify the resulting PDF before it is offered for download.

## Privacy and portability

User documents and PDFs are processed locally in the browser. The application has no telemetry and ships a portable single-file build in the Benches rolling release.
